Elly & Jordan flew accross the world (from Australia) to get married in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. They choose to say their vows on a lovely yacht in the middle of Stockholm archipelago, with the city it self as the backdrop for both their vows, portraits, cocktail hour and cake cutting. Read more about their day and how to get married on a yacht in the middle of Stockholm with the view of your choosing!
Elly & Jordan got ready separately, to meet up midday at the yacht which they had for the day. On the fly bridge (on top of the boat) they did an emotional first look with beautiful Stockholm scenery as the background. After this intimate moment they went to the main deck to mingle with their family that had joined them all over from Australia to celebrate their love.
After a short boat ride the couple decided on a picturesque place to say their vows in the front of the boat. Overlooking Djurgården the ceremony had the perfect mix of water, greenery and old architecture as back-drop for their “I-do’s”. It was a beautiful ceremony with both tears and laughter.
As the cocktail hour started we snook away on the boat for some wedding pictures of the couple whilst the boat did a tour in the archipelago. Ending the ride in front of the royal castle, this made the perfect scene for family pictures and canapees before docking.
Before the party continued in a local restaurant, me and the couple took some time to capture a few more wedding photos together in the old and fashionable parts of central Stockholm. In the end of this post you find more pictures from Elly & Jordans day.
Being docked in central Stockholm, at the fashionable street of Strandvägen, M/Y Merceditas is not only easy to reach but also offers a luxurious atmosphere from its surroundings to the yacht itself. The yacht has two levels, the main deck and the fly bridge on top. Below deck there is also a small salon and the kitchen as well as 3 cabins with double beds, toilet & shower.
The yacht offers catering and first class service for up to 32 guests, 24 guests sitting down for dinner. Although the boat is 23meters long, it still manages to enter small harbours and nooks of the archipelago. Personally I truly enjoyed the flexibility of which the crew listened to both the couple and me as a photographer to find different views in the archipelago to match the dream of Elly & Jordan.
You can book M/Y Merceditas from 3h and up, even staying overnight in this beautiful yacht. Being docked to central in Stockholm, the opportunities to combine your yacht wedding with both wedding photos and dinner in the fashionable parts of central Stockholm.
I can truly recommend hoping onboard M/Y Merceditas for a once in a lifetime experience, for a once in a lifetime day. Locals often say that Stockholm is best experienced from the water, and this could not be more true! If you wish to see some more inspiration, have a look at the gallery below.
